The Statehood Steering Committee is planning for a major Constitutional Convention to be held in Darwin in 2011. The 100th year since the Northern Territory was last part of a state.
To prepare Territorians for this significant event, the Committee is conducting a series of Forums across the Northern Territory as part of an Information Roadshow.
At the Forums the Committee will provide information on becoming a State and how we can create a new constitution that reflects what we want as Territorians and how you can be part of the 2011 Convention.
It’s the opportunity to design how our system of government works for the next hundred years or more.
All Territorians are invited.
Click on the link to find out more information about the Forum you want to attend. Dates and Locations are now set and we are adding the times and venues for the whole year in the coming weeks.
This is the opportunity of a generation. The last time Australians participated in a constitutional convention that resulted in a new constitution was in the 1890s. This is your chance to be part of history and the future of the Northern Territory.
